www.goldencasino.com – It’s a case of blink and you’ll miss it when the runners and riders take on the five-furlong dash down the Knavesmire for the Nunthorpe Stakes at York.
Leading the ante-post betting is Golden Jubilee stakes winner Kingsgate Native. John Best’s sprinter is carving out a bit of a top class career and was the winner of this race last season. Undoubtedly a top horse he was back in fifth last time out in the July Cup but the open space of York will suit him better than the slightly quirky July course at Newmarket.
The Barry Hills trained Equiano is also well fancied after winning the Group One Kings Stand stakes at Royal Ascot last time out. Never out of the top two this season connections will be hoping the ground conditions will, at the very least, include the word ‘good’ which is the type of ground his best performances have come on.
Sakhee’s Secret could be one to watch in this race too. Hughey Morrisons horse hasn’t reproduced the form that saw the four-year-old take the July Cup in 2007 and was well out of the running last time out. You can’t really ignore the poor form but any sort of return to a decent performance and the horse has the potential to run a big race.
Finally there’s been some money about for War Artist. The five-year-old was third in the July Cup, second in the Golden Jubilee and at 14/1 looks good each-way value.
